Bio

Lauren von Eckartsberg, originally from Dublin, Ohio, is a New York City-based photographer. She graduated from Case Western Reserve University with majors in psychology and Spanish and a minor in photography. After college she lived and worked in Cusco and Arequipa, Peru teaching English and providing photography and translation services for a tourism company. In 2010 she moved to New York City to pursue a master’s degree in Latin American and Caribbean Studies from Columbia University. Her work has been featured in The Flag Project in Rockefeller Center and published in Harness Magazine. In 2019 she held a solo show, Faces and Spaces, at 68 Jay Street Bar in Brooklyn, New York. von Eckartsberg’s practice is centered in portraiture and documentary photography. She is a 2021 graduate of the International Center of Photography in the Documentary Practice and Visual Journalism One-Year Certificate program and a recipient of the ICP Director’s Fellowship. She is a member of the 2021 Eddie Adams Workshop. Outside of her photographic career, von Eckartsberg has worked for New York Language Center, the Global Network of Women Peacebuilders, and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.
